Woman on a Mission: Driving Healthcare Transformation Through Value-Based Innovation (so that healthcare works for everyone!)

My journey to healthcare "enlightenment" began 34 years ago as a nurse in cardiovascular intensive care and neurotrauma intensive care. There, I witnessed firsthand how genetics, lifestyle, and environment intersected, as patients fought for their lives. It was clear to me that healthcare needed a new approach—one that not only treated the disease but also acknowledged the engagement and autonomy of the whole person.

After a decade in acute care, I set out on a quest to find the "holy grail" of care—an approach where people are seen as multifaceted beings, not just a collection of transactional disease states. Over the last 15 years, I've not only lived that vision but also helped design and build it. My journey began with my first experience in a complex geriatric population health model supported by a value-based reimbursement model. It was in that moment that I found my calling. Since then, I’ve discovered the multi-layered, ever-evolving "secret sauce" of excellent care—a sustainable, patient-centered healthcare experience that fosters superior outcomes with a pay-for-performance or aligned reimbursement model. Not only were patient outcomes far better, but patients were more satisfied with their care experience—and providers were more fulfilled in their roles.

Since that early experience in a successful VBC paradigm (before VBC fostered even routine discussion), this veteran nurse innovator, caught by the entrepreneurial "bug," served in leadership and executive roles in several VBC startups, executing on clinical program design, business strategy, contract negotiation, and operations. One of the programs I co-designed with a clinical partner (and then actually managed the first market implementation), underwent a 10 year actuarial analysis which revealed a consistent 2.5 -2:1 ROI for customers. Key milestones in my career include supporting two VBC startups to acquisition:  PopHealthCare to GuideWell in 2017 and Utilize Health to Mental Health Cooperative. After that, I decided to deliver on my mission - to leave healthcare better than I found it. That's when I launched Synergy 3C—The Clinical Consulting Cooperative, a Value-Based Care consulting and advisory firm, dedicated to helping healthcare organizations design innovative care strategies that enhance patient outcomes, improve operational efficiency, reduce costs, and create tangible revenue.

  • Initial Consultation - Discovery Session : 30 Minutes - High level, get-to-know each other and conduct some basic needs assessment, identifying goals, pain pain points, current strategies, and ultimately determining how I can assist you in your VBC journey.

  • VBC Strategy & Design Session : 60 Minutes - Deeper conversation around a project framework of strategies to support your goal achievements as well as budgetary guidelines. This session typically sets the groundwork for a statement of work.

  • Proposal Presentation : 90 Minutes - Presentation and review of a customized proposal and Statement of Work that includes reimbursement structure.

  • Follow Up Consultation : 30 Minutes - Finalize the details of the SOW, address any concerns, and gain mutual agreement on terms.

  • Optional Services: Custom VBC Workshop/Training Sessions (half or full day) $3000 - $10,000 per session (TBD)
